From the 8-13th of November, the WLSA CAN tour made stops at Eton College, Winchester College and Harrow School, continuing to promote the positive WLSA message and offering students a unique opportunity to engage with representatives from leading US universities, including Carnegie Mellon, Columbia University, NYU, University of Chicago, University of Michigan and Vanderbilt University.
Each event began with a historical tour of the esteemed schools that hosted our CAN panel sessions and workshops. Eton College, Winchester College and Harrow School all massively helped us serve as a platform to promote the US university application process, providing the perfect backdrop for featuring dynamic student fairs and information panels for students to learn more about college life in the US. During the fairs, students had the opportunity to interact one-on-one with our university representatives, gaining insight each attending university, sparking interest in their future higher education decisions.
The educational panels provided a comprehensive review of the application process for students from Years 11-13. Each university representative discussed the key components of a US college application, including the importance of academic achievement as well as a step-by-step review of their holistic admissions processes. The panels emphasized the value of community within universities, highlighting how students are evaluated not only for their academic background, but also for their potential to contribute to a vibrant campus environment.
Overall, CAN UK was a resounding success, with students eager to continue their conversations with our university reps beyond the panels. The days visiting each school were both informative and memorable, and it was fantastic to see the opportunities and inspiration that our CAN events incite. The tour was another excellent step in informing a greater understanding and connection between US universities and UK schools, all the while supporting the CAN mission of promoting diversity and providing opportunities for high-achieving and outstanding students from a diverse array of backgrounds.
