Faculty Exchange

About

The WLSA's Faculty Exchange is an unique professional development experience for faculty of WLSA associate schools. Registrations for this year’s FE (March 1-10, 2019 in Durban, South Africa) are now closed. 

 

The 2019 Faculty Exchange will be hosted by our associate Westville Boys’ High School. Participants will experience South African school life through teaching, consulting and supporting classes as well as excursions around Durban and neighboring areas, such as the optional HLUHLUWE Game Park safari*.  

 

* If you decide to join the safari, this will be at your own expense and cost an extra 480 USD.

Program Goals

Offer an opportunity for cross-cultural communication and idea sharing

Professional development for visiting faculty in different teaching strategies

Experiencing South African culture through cultural and nature excursions.

Cost

The program is free of charge but participants are responsible for the costs of their flights, visas, travel insurance and approximately 30 USD pocket money a day. 

Is this program for you?

We accept applications from up to 10 educators and faculty members from WLSA associate schools around the world. 

 

Requirements

  • Independent and willing to take initiative
  • Highly proficient or fluent in English
  • Eager to take advantage of a full range of learning opportunities available through this program
  • Willing to co-teach or teach classes as appropriate
