Who is this conference for?

This conference is for students aged 15-18 from WLSA Associate Schools and schools in the process of becoming members.  

When does registration close?

Registration closes on May 1 2020. 

What is the cost?

The cost is €800 EUR for students and chaperones.

What does the conference fee include?

The conference fee includes all sessions from July 19-25, airport pick up and drop off (within the time window) breakfast, lunch and dinner, accommodation and outings. 

I’m coming as a school chaperone – what are the expectations of my role?

Firstly, thank you for volunteering to take care of our students. As a chaperone you are a member of our safeguarding team and are expected to be fully present with the students and fully participate in the program. A complete list of responsibilities can be found in the Chaperone Guidelines.

I have a food allergy, what are my options for dining?
There will be a variety of food choices for the lunches and dinners including meat free options.  If you have a severe allergy please let us know via email at events@wlsafoundation.org
Will I appear in photos or videos during the conference?

There is a chance you will appear in photos or videos post conference, if you prefer not to appear in post-conference materials, please let us know via email at events@wlsafoundation.org 

I am presenting, will my PowerPoint presentation (PPT) be available for distribution after the conference?
Yes, unless you say otherwise, all PPT’s will be made available to attendees after the conference.
I am presenting, is there a template that I need to use for my PowerPoint presentation?

We will change all title slides to the WLSA template, the remainder of your slides can reflect your personal style, we just ask that they be engaging and easy to read. 

Will you be arranging transport to and from the venue?

There will be a bus available for the CCLP and Student Conference attendees, those times are as follows:

  • July 12 (CCLP Capstone) Bus departs Toronto Pearson airport at 13:00 (1:00 pm)
  • July 19 (Student Conference) Bus departs Toronto Pearson Airport in intervals from 9:00 – 13:00 (1:00 pm)
  • July 25 (Student Conference) Bus departs from McMaster at 9:00-11:00 am
Will WLSA help me get a visa to participate in the WLSA Student Conference?

Upon request, WLSA will issue visa invitation letters to registered conference attendees, from countries requiring a visa to enter the Canada. If you require a visa invitation letter, please send an email to events@wlsafoundation.org

Participants requiring a visa invitation letter should register for the conference before 1 April 2020 to ensure that the letter arrives in time. WLSA does not give any further support to the visa application process. Obtaining a visa remains the sole responsibility of the participant. Regular cancellation deadlines apply, regardless of whether your visa was granted or not.

I have registered but am unable to attend. Can I get a refund?

The following information outlines the cancellation policy for conference participants.

Is there a limit on the number of students that can attend from one school?

Yes, there is a limit on the number of students that can attend from one school. For the first round of student registrations up to 1 February 2020, up to 12 students per school can submit applications. For the second round of student registrations from 2 February to the registration deadline on 1 May 2020, an additional 8 students can submit applications.

When will I be able to check in to my room?

Rooms will be available by 4:00 pm on the check in date.

When do I have to check out of my room?

You need to check out of your room by 10:00 am on the check out date.
